Well balanced is the key

211 this morning on to 200 there are many ways to lose weight but increased activity and a balanced diet is the only healthy way believe.  Seems Dr. Atkins had something his diet or similar with different fats is being widely encouraged to lose weight.  He had an interesting premise and after you lost weight he would add carbs back in gradually to get to a maintenance of weight.  Seems he was ahead of his time.  Dr. McDougal  McDougal MD emphasizes starches and has many who do well on his diet however your body needs to process sugars or carbs well or you will gain on his diet least had that problem with his. Think different things diets work for different people if you are taking meds they can have significant effect on the way your body processes food.  Behavioral meds can lead to weight gain and take extra effort to lose on them went to 275 when first went on resperadal had trouble breathing been some difficult days and still to this day difficulties are with us. If He brought you to it He will bring you through it.  Yea, thou I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.  Interpret that as the rod corrects the staff guides and protects and saves from destruction.

You worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews.

Update on meds and such and general issues

Things continue to evolve and rules change.  As stated in previous blog things are changing on fats and maybe that statins which some report acutally cause brain malfunction by decresing colesterol a necessary substance in the brain.  One doctor says salt is good for you and decreasing it can cause gut problems, same doctor says many disorders are caused by ntruient deficiency such as alsheimers Lou Gehrigs and macular degeneration and joint problems just to name a few.  One report said statins one of the most prescribed drugs may have been unnessary and that cholesterol was misunderstood.  Now they are saying eggs are good for you recommended to eat 3 a day.

Big problem for many people is access to healthy foods.  Everyone can't afford whole foods but many companies are getting healthier.  Salt and sugar in high levels are being cut and more whole grains even mac and cheese lol.

not much esle right now but check back and comment on anything you may know can help people wanting to be healthy. God bless Jesus is our Redeemer Healer and Deliverer.   agape philio

Sugar Fats etc

Dr. McDougal seems to an informed vegan. He and his wife are good examples of what he teaches a starch based diet.  He says civilizations have gotten by for thousands of years on starch based diets.  I think he is probably right for people who are processing sugars properly however many are not.  And I don't think meat would have been a central ingredient in the Lord or Jews diet were it altogether bad for you.
People on behavioral meds tend not to process sugar or glucose properly that's a large percentage of the American population.  May be the reason we are so fat not so much the diet. As stated on my weight loss page elevated sugar levels in the blood not properly processed leads to fat molecules being created to store that sugar.  Glucose is the fuel that cells use to fuel the body. When it becomes elevated on factors such as insulin resistance it can't get into the cell and when it can't the brain the cells or other cells die or starve to death.
Starches really elevate blood sugar levels and diabetic checking their sugar can attest to that. So I think Dr. McDougal may be right for some but not for all.  My personal diet has been pretty successful and I have been able to add some starches and sugar to my diet but I can overindulge and then have to be careful for a few days to get back to my weight which is still at 203 right now.  Thats obese going by some standards but I believe thats unrealistic if I were my prescribed bmi index weight I would look terrible and sickly.  I am comfortable physically and otherwise at 200.
On the meat issue there is some teaching on biblical histories not contained in the canon of scripture but Gospel materials that Jesus was a vegetarian and talked to the animals during his sojurn on the earth the Gospel of the Holy Twelve is such but I believe it may have altered by eastern religions teachings. But it may be an important document non the less.
An important component of health is praying for and caring for the sick and others as directed by scripture.  There are those that teach divine health and that may be a truth the Isralite children suffered no disease and their clothes didn't wear out shoes either while they were in the wilderness they were even protected from the wild beast by the LORD.  Healing is the childrens bread deliverence too as many sicknesses especially mental have spiritual roots.
Fats are necessary for good health recent teaching on PBS have featured diets that have fat as an essential ingredient. Lets eat good fats such as avocados flax seeds olive oil and salmon and such.  A little cheese and eggs on occasion I don't believe are bad for you some things need to be eaten in moderation such as nuts and seeds. They are dense calories but I am not sure the body processes fats the same way it does sugars. Elevated blood sugar by a lot of scientist is the reason for fat gain. I tend to agree with that.  God bless here's to good health for all,  3John 1:2  "
Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers"

My view on health

Healthy is a lifestyle, growing up on a farm extremely active I was always thin and lean.
Continued that way till mental problems and behavioral meds caused my weight to go up and my health take a nosedive.  At my heaviest about 270 lbs. I was at the church walked out to cemetery and back to the car on a hot 100 degree day and noticed my breathing was labored.  It shocked me this was the fellow that could work all day walking surveying lines cutting bushes in 90 degrees and not stop.  Shortly thereafter I decided to check my sugar and it was high I proceeded to cut the white stuff and eat brown, I heard a teaching about fat and diabetes so I cut the fat too, and my weight went down about 20 lbs and my A1c dropped two numbers from 7 something to 5 something, I soon went vegan for a couple of years and lost 10 more,  about two years ago at about 253, after reaching out to some doctors who were health minded but getting no help about weight loss on behavioral meds, I took the initiative.  You can see what happened on the Weight Loss tab of this website. I went from 253 made the declaration at 250 and then went to 188.5.  At that weight I decided to stop losing and maintain,  along came a hernia and the resolving of that and the convalescence I gained about 15 lbs back.  Its still a  comfortable weight at about 203.5 this morning I plan to try to stay at or about 200.
My exercise is walking and something I really need to do is add some weight training at 65 to maintain muscle mass.   Its much easier to lose or maintain weight with good muscle to fat ratio.  Muscle burns calories.
Let me say other than some books on healthy lifestyle and reading articles on the internet I basically just adopted a healthy lifestyle and eating habits.  I am on two meds my thyroid med and behavioral med. My blood pressure fluctuates and some recent science says that a higher number for older adults is ok.  They also are saying that fat is not necessarily a bad thing but there is disagreement about that.
What they are saying that's alarming is that statins deprive the brain of necessary cholesterol and results in early onset of dementia or Alzheimer's.  You also can find doctors who say olive oil is bad for you something that shocked Benny Hinn so you have to be careful who you listen to and depend on the Holy Spirit to guide you and other aspects of God to ferret out the truth.  The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth.  God bless agape more later.
